Just the other day, I mentioned to Ty how nice it would be if there was a sunscreen that was also an insect repellent and a moisturizing lotion. I live in Orlando so I risk skin cancer every time I leave my house. I also have sweet blood (my mother’s words) so I am a walking mosquito buffet. I am constantly showering from being hot and sticky from living in a humid swamp, wearing sunscreen, having children and generally being dirty, so my skin is super dry.
And then my mother-in-law casually hands me this month’s Avon catalog. I had a positive experience with another make-up line like this, so I flipped through hoping for a miracle.
Then I saw Avon’s Skin-So-Soft Bug Guard Plus IR3535®. Hosanna! It’s an insect repellent, an SPF 30 sunscreen and a water-resistant moisturizing lotion. I’ve researched the ingredients and actually found it mentioned in a paper by a Phd at the University of Nebraska as having 4-8 hours of effectiveness.
So far, it has worked. I apply this every day before I leave the house. As a Floridian, I have to remember to not only protect my face, but my neck, chest, arms and legs. Call me judgmental, but age shows itself in the neck and chest as well as the face.
And another thing…it smells nice! One of the major deterrents with sunscreen and insect repellent is the odor. Rest assured, this is has a pleasant smell, so lather up ladies!
